Ouray, CO is known as the "Switzerland of America" because of its rugged mountain topography, and one look at the jagged peaks rising straight out of town explains why. This tiny town of 898 people sits at 7,792 feet, with a main street lined with Italianate commercial buildings and Victorian homes that feel straight out of an Alpine village. Soak in the natural hot springs, hike the roughly 5.6-mile Perimeter Trail loop around town, or take a day hike to the Blue Lakes for views of Mt. Sneffels at about 12,793 feet. All the mountain magic of the Alps, no jet lag required.
